Reflection on Web 2.0 Project

While studying Management Information System in this semester I learned a lot about Web 2.0 tools. The first project in this course was to choose any Web 2.0 tools and prepare a training session for the classmates about the tool and how it can be used in our daily life. And the final project is called Web 2.0 Practical, in this project we have to demonstrate how we use Web 2.0 tools by using Google Sites and also we have to create our own blog to post on it in weekly basis.

The following are the Web 2.0 tools that I learned during this course and brief reflection on these tools. I organized them from my most favorite to least favorite tool.

01- ð Twitter ð

I really love Twitter most from all Web 2.0 tools because it is very easy to use to compare with other social websites. By using Twitter I can follow anyone in the world including my friends and other people or group that feeds me with useful information such as: Dirt Corner, Dr. Mehmet Oz and much more.

02- ð Google Chrome ð

The second thing that I really love is Google Chrome and now it is my default browser, because it is faster and looks nicer than Internet Explorer. In addition there are many useful features in Google Chrome but I like Chrome Web Store most. Actually Chrome Web Store is full of many extension and application and I use some of them. For example, Twitter Notifier, by using this extension I can read and write tweets without opening the Twitter website.

03- ð Gmail ð

I am using my Gmail account often for college projects and assignments, because Gmail massage can attach very big files in size and I also organize my inbox by using labels and filters in a way that I can read my emails easily. In addition, I chat with my classmates whenever I see them online in the Gmail Chat.

04- ð Google Searching ð

I use Google Searching for personal purposes, if I want to search about any information that I want to know about and for college purposes, to search about required information asked in projects. Google Searching was the only tool that I was well known before but now after the training session I can use it more efficiently.

05- ð Facebook ð

I do not like Facebook as Twitter, because I think it is very difficult to use to compare with Twitter. But I use Facebook to read news feed from my friends, chat with my friends whenever I see them online in the Facebook Chat and I mostly use Facebook to play online games that are available on website such as Buggle, Zuma Blitz and much more.

06- ð Google Picasa ð

I think that the Google Picasa is very wonderful and professional tool for managing pictures and movies. I use Google Picasa mostly to edit pictures, create collages and produce movies for my Blog and Google Sites. I like Google Picasa because it upload all folders that include pictures and movies by itself so you have to just click on folder and edit picture or movie.

07- ð Google Reader ð

In the beginning I do not like Google Reader a lot because I thought that it is very difficult to keep track of many websites in once. But when I tried it with Blogs that I am following I realized that it is very useful. Actually, I am following 13 Blogs and it is difficult to know if there are new posts but now with Google Reader I can know immediately the new posts and comment on it.

08- ð Blog ð

I really enjoy creating Blog and posting on it in weekly basis, although it was required for final project but I find it very interesting to share my thoughts with others. I became familiar with Blog so that now I am expert on creating Blog, using different styles for posting and searching new things or gadget that add more value to my Blog.

09- ð Google Earth ð

I am comfort with Google Earth because I like Geography a lot. I think Google Earth is very great program because I can search about any place in the world, get some pictures and also read brief information about the place. And the most features that I like in Google Earth is KMZ files, with this file I can add a picture where I want in the earth and save the file and share it with my friends.

10- ð Google Sites ð

I use Google Sites only for my final project, where I have to demonstrate how I used the Web 2.0 tools in my daily life. Although I use Google Sites for project purposes but I find very useful. And now I am expert in creating Google Sites and adding pages in it so in the future if I had to create website I will use Google Sites.

11- ð Google Calendar ð

I use Google Calendar mostly to check Islamic Holidays because I already use Microsoft Outlook Calendar from five year so I find it more easy to use.

12- ð Google Docs ð

I think Google Docs is very useful tool for me and I do not know why they did not teach us this tool in the foundation. I use Google Docs mainly to collect and edit the project documents with my group members and I also use it to upload the Dead Lines XL Sheet to share the deadline with my classmates.

13- ð Social Bookmarking (Delicious) ð

As same as Google Docs, I think Delicious is very useful tool too and it should been touch us from the foundation. I use Delicious to save my links and share them with my group members and I also use Delicious to reach links about a particular topic. I use Delicious mostly to research links that support our topic for Industry Project.

To sum up all, I learn a lot about Web 2.0 tools from this project and they are very useful tools. It was very time consuming project but it was useful for me and I enjoyed it very much.
